Braziers, Oxfordshire.
Braziers is one of our favourite venues and it was here that the BBC Heaven and Earth show came and filmed one of our retreats with Dominic Littlewood. Braziers has a gothic feel, quirky but extremely friendly. It is actually a commune with around 15 permanent residents. They share the mealtimes with us and during the day they are either working on the farm or looking after the house. The rooms are singles and all are comfortable and warm. Food is organic with a lot of it grown in the Braziers gardens.
Built in the late 17th century, for a while it was owned by the Fleming family (Ian Fleming who wrote the Bond Books!). Then the Glaisters bought the house and it passed into the hands of the Faithfull family. Marianne Faithfull and Mick Jagger certainly spent a summer here!
Today it has a fantastic, tranquil feel. It isn’t 5 star accommodation so don’t expect mini bars and a spa. But it has a special peacefulness and grandeur about it which you won’t find in a lot of modern hotels. Our delegates find Braziers extremely charming and it is one of the reasons why they keep coming back!
